The first BMS is in the kiln and is scheduled to be poured this afternoon.
What happens at the foundry today; the kiln heats the wax patterns inside the ceramic shell and melts them out. This makes a negative space. The molten bronze fills the crevices in the pour. After the pieces are cast, they’ll crack the ceramic covering and remove it. The bronze pieces are then exposed. After they shake out the core, they’ll cut off all the gating and start to assemble the pieces. When they’re welded together then the chasing starts.
I’ll be traveling to the foundry later this month to finish up the first piece for the photo shoot and check on the progress of the sculptures on order.
