Fresh Clay

The clay is warming, the model is on the modeling stand, NPR’s Terry Gross is on the ITunes podcast and I’m just waiting for the moment to start again on the horse and riders of my vaulting sculpture.  Much work has been done to bring the horse to the right moment in its gait.  I think I’ve got it, so now I’m going to take some fresh clay and put the energy back into the surface. I need to push back some of the wire that is poking out through the side of the neck.  This is easily done with a hammer.

My early morning was spent researching the dawn of Mans involvement with the horse. I love the research part of all projects.  I’m always astounded by the richness of material lying out there ready for me to discover it. Scythian; horse mask, 4 B.C.  Here is an example:
